Tokyo - The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced today that it has extended its agreement to supply its global flagship brand “ADVAN” racing tires as the sole control tire for the All-Japan Formula 3 Championship Series through 2019. The extension means Yokohama Rubber will be the sole tire supplier to the championship series for nine straight years, starting from 2011. The control tires will again be the “ADVAN A005” for use on dry tracks and the “ADVAN A006” for use on wet surfaces. Both tires use YOKOHAMA’s proprietary orange oil compounding technique to ensure superior grip performance while enhancing environmental performance. The control tire sizes will be 200/50VR13 for front tires and 240/45VR13 for rear tires.
Yokohama Rubber’s retention as the sole tire supplier reflects the evaluation of YOKOHAMA tires as meeting the superior performance requirements set by the Japanese Formula 3 Association, the operator of the All-Japan Formula 3 Championship Series. Yokohama Rubber is an avid supporter of formula racing in Japan, from entry-level races to the highest category. The company became the official tire supplier for the Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship series, Asia’s ultimate Formula racing series, in 2016, and also supports of Japan’s Super-FJ junior formula racing series.
The All-Japan Formula 3 Championship series was started in 1979, making it the longest-running race category in Japan. The series features no-frill formula racing cars designed solely for speed and driving performance. The All-Japan series, together with F3 series in other countries, is considered a springboard for young drivers hoping to become F1 drivers.
